Zettelkasten and Evergreen notes engagement β emotion
When creating literature notes, try to take note of the emotion specific passages called up. If something was surprising, make a note of that. Over time the surprise will wane, but the emotion can be used in the future when the note is used as source for an external work.
This is surprisingly hard
We were initially surprised (or outraged), or felt any other emotion that made us take note of the idea we met. When writing a new note, create notes with a view on creation, not just rehashing old ideas. This immediately will change the focus of the note. What makes this not special for me? Why do I like it, or hate it? Donβt build wikipedia donβt quote.
It helps to link notes from the daily note when we first had / found the idea. It gives additional context.

- Note: Added to my template
- Literature notes are a middle stage between source material and future work. For this to be useful there must be enough context. Previous emotion is also a context
- Added the novelty index to my reference note (for now), seems a better fit
- Template adds enough friction to avoid useless notes
- templates make the LN a separate stage, thinking with a new point of view
Fleeting notes
Logseq fleeting notes - do not rewrite Use template for higher quality notes, include emotion as context.
