Human behavior as automatons feedback
When we are put of by negative feedback, it might be that the feedback is given at the wrong time in our pursuit. If we are not established enough, negative feedback is felt as destructive. Understanding this will help us look past it, and see it as just feedback, a response that we can use (or ignore).
When we can look past our emotion, and just look at the feedback, it might even help us see where to look for answers. Separate the feedback from the emotion, and see it for what it is.
We should not, because of our emotions, rationalize away the feedback. We might be attached to the way we do a certain thing, but forgetting the end-goal and overal picture is counter productive.

getting too invested in known procedures stops personal growth, or even knowing when to stop doing something
- Because bad habits, in this context unorganized note taking, does not have bad consequences right away people get to invested in the way they do things. This makes them not look for answers in the right places
P76 ”Treat events like a sparring partner in the gym” … Marcus called it separating value judgment from external events. Epicurus: “It’s not the thing that upset us but our judgement about things”

Fleeting notes

- Negative feedback as a teaching method (or lack thereof)
- avoiding negative feedback is a natural reaction to pain avoidance
- usually considered negative, but at the same time it does show if something is just a bad idea
- don’t avoid all the bad, cuddling is for babies, they are not responsible for knowing what is wrong and what is right
- distinguish negative feedback about procedure from personal negative feedback

- Denial makes people not see reasons why things don’t go well
- getting too attached to things can become counter productive
- Same conclusion, distinguishing what is relevant
- don’t take things too personal
- Same conclusion, distinguishing what is relevant

- Self-help offer whatever people ask, not always what actually helps
- first find the reason why you need help, then find the help, not the other way around
