⏱️Being productive and healthy procrastination / workflow
System as a collection of workflows
Here, in this context, I use system to mean one or more workflows, used to archive a goal.
Systems are good. They enable us to streamline our work, thus reducing mental effort, which can then be used for actual work. The problem arises when systems don’t do that. When they make us do something that in the long-run is not beneficial, while still giving the impression of useful work.
If our system is not satisfactory it might be one reason why we start to procrastinate. On the other hand, a good system, with good procedures, will gently push us in the right direction. It should also be fun.
Unsatisfactory systems, if users are forced to use them, facilitate the use of workarounds, and keeping shadow-systems. In the long run this leads to more work with a lowered quality.
A fitting work environment will enhance productivity Defining satisfactory workflows reduce stress and increase productivity Permanent notes are intellectual creativity workflows feed into habits

Good procedures help avoid procrastination and give freedom
- Freedom and interesting topics don’t solve procrastination
- The problem is faulty work routines they get in the way of doing good work
- As soon as that is fixed it will reduce abused freedoms and make us do the right thing
Fleeting notes
A good workflow is enticing us back to work - freedom 🤺 procrastination & motivation - too much freedom → loss of drive - don’t have to do anything, result attention goes elsewhere - procrastination result of the lack of guidance - Good workflow → push / goat in the right direction - limit choices to only good ones, or - offer is just too good to refuse - doing the right is more fun / better then not doing it
